About…

The members of the Ahmedabad Education Society and H L College of Commerce, since its inception in 1936 have always believed that higher education is essentially correlated with economic development and that the educationally empowered youth are the real leaders who can effect change and transformation in the society. With this foresight the foundation stone of HLCC was laid by the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The founding fathers of H L College of Commerce – Shri G. V. Mavlankar, Sheth Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai, Shri Balvantrai Thakor, Shri Jivanlal Diwan, Sheth Shri Amritlal Hargovandas and Shri H. V. Kapadia– were not only devout patriotic leaders but had also epitomized accomplishment and attainment through their exemplary living. Their conviction that education is an attempt at self-realization and success in educational attempts naturally manifests in material progress is a conviction the HL family stands by even today, after 77 years.

HL campus has played an integral role in the independence movement, where our youth were infused with patriotic fervour by reverberating speeches of National Leaders. Our campus has also been a witness to International Cricket Matches
